Aaron Altaras, born in 1995 in Berlin, is the son of actress Adriana Altaras and composer Wolfgang Böhmer. During his primary school time at Heinz-Galinski-Grundschule Berlin, he was discovered by a casting team for the 2004 TV film MOGELPACKUNG MANN (lit. “Bluff Package Man”). Two years later, Aaron attracted much attention with his performance in NICHT ALLE WAREN MÖRDER or NOT ALL WERE MURDERERS, based on the autobiographical recollections of actor Michael Degen. In the movie, Aaron impersonates the German-Jewish boy Michael amidst the Nazi atrocities of World War II.
As a high school student at Jüdische Oberschule Berlin, Altaras played in several TV productions, among them two episodes of Germany’s most successful crime series, TATORT (lit. “Crime Scene”), as well as in the series HAUPTSTADTREVIER, EIN STARKES TEAM and SOKO STUTTGART.
After his high school graduation, Aaron spent several months in the US and in Argentina before commencing his studies of Liberal Arts and Sciences in the Netherlands. In 2017, Aaron graduated with a bachelor’s degree from the University of Amsterdam. Being a passionate soccer player himself, Aaron was particularly suited to star as the soccer player Leon in the
Swiss feature film MARIO in 2017. His latest film THE INVISIBLES will be officially released in the USA in December 2018.
The Portland German Film Festival 2018 will show THE INVISIBLES on Friday, Oct. 5, 2018 at 7.30 PM and MARIO on Sat., Oct. 6, 2018 at 09.00 PM which will be CO-PRESENTED BY the Portland Queer Film Festival. There will be a Q&A with Aaron Altaras after both movies.
