The Portland German Film Festival, in collaboration with Northwest Film Forum, will present KINOFEST Seattle, October 7-9, 2016 at Northwest Film Forum, 1515 12th Ave. in Seattle.

KINOFEST Seattle will include the newest in German-language cinema with features, docs and shorts from Germany, Austria and Switzerland. All films will be in German with English subtitles. 

Additionally, the festival will host filmmakers from all over the world to present their work to Seattle audiences. KINOFEST Seattle will be a notable addition to Seattle’s vibrant film scene, providing the city’s first German language film festival.

Much of KINOFEST Seattle will be culled from the Portland German Film Festival, though the Seattle fest will also include some of its own unique programming.

Now in its 7th year, the Portland German Film Festival is an annual showcase of German-language cinema in Portland, Oregon. Over the last year, the festival has featured several world and US premieres as well as played host to internationally renowned filmmakers. This year’s festival takes place September 23 – 27, 2016 at Cinema 21, 616 NW 21st Ave, Portland.

Northwest Film Forum is Seattle’s premier film arts organization, screening hundreds of independently made and classic film annually, offering a year-round schedule of filmmaking classes for all ages, and supporting filmmakers at all stages of their careers.

Already confirmed for KINOFEST Seattle 2016 is the US Premiere of the Swiss film, USFAHRT OERLIKE, a tender feature directed by Paul Riniker that tells the story of two aging men whose friendship grows deeper as one of them becomes more infirm. Also in the KINOFEST lineup will be NEXT GENERATION SHORT TIGER 2015, which will introduce young talents from Germany to Seattle audiences. The international hit family film from Germany, WINDSTORM 2, will ensure that KINOFEST Seattle’s program will appeal to the all ages.
